Priorities
Like you, I have a to-do list a mile long – especially for the City. Here are some important priorities I know my neighbors in District 2 want to see progress on:
Affordability: Every mom I know manages the family and the budget. We know the cost of living (it’s more than the eggs!) is going up while wages remain stagnant. We must bring in higher wage jobs to Santa Fe, support job training and apprenticeship programs at labor unions, and pursue corporate bad actors that engage in price-gouging that harms our pocketbooks. The guaranteed income pilot project for community college students who worked hard saw enormous success. We can build on it. We can also innovate, like providing childcare for city employees which will not only lower costs it would increase productivity and help fill vacancies at the City.
Housing: We need more affordable housing in Santa Fe. The affordable housing trust fund is helping, but the bottom line is people who work in Santa Fe should be able to live here. There is a lot of development going on, and yet we still have a high demand. I want my kids to be able to raise a family here. Relatedly, we need to compassionately address homelessness and ensure we expand services for those in need.
Livability: We all deserve to live in a community where we feel safe. We need to ensure the police have the resources and cutting edge equipment they need, while also ramping up treatment and behavioral health programs that are the root causes of many crimes. I support increasing funding for the Alternative Response Unit (ARU) and mental and behavioral health services. Right now we ask police to do all things, we need to increase resources for other services so that police can actually police. Livability is also about ensuring that the City is investing in spaces that increase people’s quality of life. Midtown is a great example. Spaces where people can authentically come together as a community.
Sustainability: As a mom, I care deeply about the future we’re leaving for our kids. That means investing in clean energy and solar, protecting our water, and expanding public transit and bike paths so we’re not just surviving — we’re thriving. It also means standing up to outside pressure when our values are under attack. Whether it’s clean energy, immigration, or education — I’ll stand up to bullies, even when they’re in Washington, D.C.
All of this — affordability, livability, sustainability — ties back to one core belief: that Santa Fe should work for everyone, not just the lucky few. And that starts with trust.
I hope I can earn your trust, and your vote.
